Many have provided invaluable support and assistance throughout my graduate studies. First, I thank God who has met my biggest need by redeeming me and calling me to know himself. In addition, He gave me the abilities that I have, directed me to UC Davis, and answered my prayers for an advisor, for a research topic, and for direction and employment.
Emphasizing collaboration, the program is an interdisciplinary graduate group that draws its faculty from diverse fields of education, humanities, social science, physical and biological sciences, mathematics, and medicine, and engages with key campus centers and programs, such as the M.I.N.D.
The Graduate Studies offices are currently closed to the public in response to the Coronavirus outbreak. Although our physical location is closed, Graduate Studies will still continue in an operating status. A thesis takes a long time, and five years is a quick time to complete the Ph.D. If you want to pursue a Ph.D. degree and are well prepared coming out of UC Davis, then apply for admission to a Ph.D. program and not a master's degree program.
PhD degrees are usually required for leadership positions across academia, government, non-governmental organizations, and industry. To earn a PhD degree a student in my lab group usually does customized coursework in either the Hydrologic Sciences or Ecology Graduate Groups at UC Davis plus a PhD dissertation.
The Hydrologic Sciences Graduate Group (HSGG) at the University of California at Davis spans departments to offer M.S., professional M.S. (non-thesis option), and Ph.D. degrees founded on coursework and research that may be geared toward hydrology as a specialized discipline or problem-oriented, interdisciplinary training taking advantage of the breadth of Earth, environmental, agricultural.

Doctoral Degree Apply Now! Candidates in the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in ECE are expected to make an original and significant contribution to knowledge in a specialized area. The ECE Ph.D. program consists of passing a preliminary Ph.D. evaluation—an individualized program of study—performing satisfactorily on a qualifying examination and completing a research dissertation.

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree requires a thorough understanding of the foundations of physics and mathematical methods as evidenced by performance on the written Preliminary Exam and the oral Qualifying Exam, as well as submission of a dissertation which must include an original contribution to fundamental physics.

The biannual UC Davis Symphony Orchestra Composition Readings gives our graduate composers the chance to learn how to write for orchestra. The UC Davis Department of Music and the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts also sponsor a biannual music festival and composition workshop, which offer additional performance opportunities for our graduate composers.
Because most of our master's students obtain the M.A. on their way to earning a Ph.D. degree, they are expected to opt for the thesis option to obtain valuable research experience.
List of Graduate Program Requirements Applied, M.S., Master's Plan I (Thesis) This plan requires 45 units of adviser-approved, graduate and upper division courses (the 100 and 200 series only) and a thesis. Students will enroll for 12 units per quarter including research, academic, and seminar units.
All work toward a UC Davis graduate degree usually is done on the UC Davis campus. However, with the consent of the graduate adviser and the dean of Graduate Studies, some coursework taken elsewhere may be credited toward a student's degree, provided that the units were not used to satisfy requirements for another degree.
